Organization Design: A Practitioner’s Perspective
HR leaders are often called upon to guide their organizations through major change, much of which is accompanied by an examination of – and changes to – the organizational structure in response to that change. Join the conversation to learn one company’s various successful approaches to the practical application of organizational design theory, from the real-life experience and perspective of functional and HR leadership.
This session will include:
- A great story of transformational growth highlighting three different scenarios
- A variety of approaches to facilitating organizational design work
- A candid panel discussion of best practices and lessons learned from each journey of applying OD principles within different functions of the business
Susan J. Colby, Director, Human Resources, Alkermes, Inc.
Susan Colby is Director of Human Resources for the Alkermes site in Wilmington, Ohio. In this role, Susan is responsible for aligning the site HR and operational strategies, particularly as they relate to organizational design and development, talent management and culture and competencies. Susan has over 25 years of progressive HR experience in various industries, including leadership roles in the paper, plastics and biopharmaceutical sectors. Susan has her BA of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and her Masters in Human Resource Development from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Tom Harvey, SVP Information Technology, Chief Information Officer, Alkermes, Inc.
Tom Harvey is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Alkermes. Tom has been at Alkermes for more than 13 years. Prior to joining Alkermes, Tom held multiple IT roles over the course of almost 17 years at Abbott Laboratories and over 2 years at Deloitte. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Kristen Parr, Vice President and General Manager, Alkermes, Inc.
Kristen is the General Manager for the Wilmington, Ohio manufacturing facility of Alkermes, Inc. In her role, Kristen develops the long range strategic vision for the site, including capital planning and execution. Kristen has held several leadership positions in her 20 years’ experience with Alkermes, including site operations, supply chain, R&D and clinical program management, and project management. She has her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
Harold Weekes, Director, Human Resources, Alkermes, Inc.
Harold Weekes is a Director of Human Resources and HR Business Partner for the R&D organization in the Waltham location. Harold has over 20 years of HR experience predominately in the financial services and pharmaceutical industries. Harold has BA in economics from Brown University.
