The Impact of New Technologies on Society and Work in 2030

In recent months, there has been quite a bit of conversation about the impact that new technologies could have on jobs. But what if "jobs" are not the primary way that we think about work in the future? In this session, we will explore the cluster of emerging issues and technologies with the potential to change the ways that we get things done. Participants will come away with a practical overview of specific new innovations and approaches today that could provide clues to what future work arrangements might look like.

Topics covered will include:

  • The evolving role of freelancing platforms and cloud-based HR
  • Robotic Process Automation and a roadmap for robotic systems
  • The impact of Internet of Things and other digital innovations on work
  • New models of work that look very different from traditional "jobs"

Devin Fidler, Founder, Rethinkery Labs

Devin has worked with senior leaders at dozens of Fortune 1000 companies to systematically explore emerging issues and technologies, and to analyze their potential impacts. His ongoing work at Rethinkery Labs, including developing tools for “self-driving” management, has been covered by HBR, the New York Times, Wired and a number of other publications. He argues that today, companies themselves are a technology on the verge of disruption. Devin is a frequent speaker at gatherings of business leaders and others interested in the transformation of work and organizations. He approaches projects from a strongly international perspective, having lived and worked in several countries throughout his career.
